Good/Bad News 5/27/10

Well Brett had to fast since last night and go in at 9:30am for his blood work this morning (Dr. Kristiansen won't do IVF until both parties are tested for all STDs). Then, late morning I got a call from the Aothecary Shops to get my insurance information with regard to my medicine. The woman who called called back a few hours later and went down the list of medicines line by line that I'll be taking. The good news is that my insurance is covering all but a copay on the orals, but he bad news is that it is covering nothing on the injectables. Grand total = $2,507.16...ouch.

Blood & Culture Results/Girls Doctor Appointment 5/25/10

Good news this morning...turns out all my blood/hormones/cultures are good to go...so now it's just waiting for the first week of June!

I left work at 11 to let the dogs out and head out to Katy at noon to visit both of the girls old schools and pick up their yearbooks and items left behind. Then I drove to Fulshear to check both of them out and head back to Cypress for their 3pm doctor's appointment. It started because we needed a physical before camp this summer...but the nurse at Aspen's school called me recently to let me know that she needed 3 vaccinations before starting 7th grade. Needless to say, Aspen ended up getting 4 vaccinations, Lili got one, and they both got finger pricks and urine samples. We ended the afternoon with milkshakes at Jack-in-the-box and $10 credit for each of them at Walgreens. Lili's tears quickly went away :)

Brett & Sheila's Wedding 5/22/10

Friday night we drove out to Sweet Home, Texas for Brett and Sheila's Wedding Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner. They got married in a beautiful church, and their Rehearsal Dinner was at Sheila's Grandmother's house right down the road. She had a huge and very impressive garden that has me inspired. The wedding Saturday was very nice and Brett and Sheila were very happy. The reception was a lot of fun. They had great barbeque, beer and the cakes were wonderful!

Baby Noack 5/19/10

Today I have to transport "Baby Noack" from the cryogenic lab in OGA (where it was frozen after Brett's surgery) to the lab at Dr. Kristiansen's office. I opted to since I paid $75 to borrow the container rather than $150 + overnight shipping charges if they did it for us. They pulled out the samples to show me before I left OGA which was interesting to see. Needless to say I did a lot of driving on top of all my work today!

Softball Awards Night 5/17/10

Tonight the girls received trophies for their spring softball seasons. Lili's team may not have placed in the top three, but they do trophies for all of the T-ball players, and her team had a great time this season. Aspen's team got 3rd (they should have been the winners though!).

Day two of my testing 5/17/10

Today was my second (and thankfully last) day of testing pre-IVF. I had to get a sonohysterogram which is where they find out if you have any abnormalities in your uterine cavity. They inject a saline solution into the uterus through a catheter and simultaneously perform an ultrasound so that the doctor can see what's going on. Looks like I've got a good uterus and my blood results should be back by the end of the week.

Driving, Birthday Presents, and Tubing on the Lake 5/16/10

Well Aspen got invited to 2 birthday parties in Fulshear this weekend, so we did a lot of driving. Brett was out of town for Brett Noake's bachelor party, so it was a short girls weekend. Sunday, Aspen convinced us that she should be able to open her birthday presents Sunday night because her birthday was going to come before we saw her again next Tuesday to take her and Lili to their doctor's appointments. We had fondue for dinner and she was very happy with her presents. Now we've just got to get the birthday party planned! We ended the weekend by going out on Towne Lake and letting the girls (and me at the end) ride around on the tube. We picked up Lili Grace for a little while, and I think she had a great time too!

Day one of the baby crusade...5/10/10

Well I guess the start of all of the IVF appointments and activities is giving me something to make me get started on this blog. Yesterday I went in for blood work (about 15 vials taken) and an ultrasound to check out my goods (apparently I have nice ovaries which I guess is a good thing). Next appointment is one week from yesterday and I'll get a sonohysterogram and cervical cultures. That will be it for the testing, and it will be up to us to decide whether to go forward with the IVF cycle in July (provided that the doctor agrees to extend the "special" price that expires June 30th).
